Silverlight Consultant, 6 + months, Boston, MA

This individual will be responsible for designing and implementing the front-end of a trade analytics portal solution for our trading and investment groups. The portal services layer is based on event-oriented SOA and will be implemented using J2EE and third-party high-performance Java framework. The front-end will use the MS Silverlight, C# and MS Sharepoint.

The services layer will apply various proprietary algorithms for generating trade execution, performance and cost analytics. Responsibilities will include:

 Contributing to the design of the portal's presentation layer

 Coding of the presentation layer using mainly Silverlight, C# and Sharepoint.

 Participating in the design and laying the foundation for future Sharepoint-based portal

 Using web-services and messaging framework for accessing the middleware services from portal presentation layer.

Job Summary

Performance Services is responsible for the oversight and analysis of performance, attribution, benchmarks and composites across all asset classes. The Composite Team has oversight responsibilities with respect to the Firm's policies and procedures for compliance with Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS®) including composite management and analysis.

The Performance Analyst role on the Composite Team works closely with Product Management, Marketing and Compliance to oversee all composites in support of the Firm's marketing efforts. Maintaining tight controls over this critical function is necessary to ensure the Firm remains compliant with GIPS. The Composite Team acts in a consulting manner for questions around composites including construction, investment discretion, and client guideline changes to name a few. The individual will have a seat on the firm's Composite Working Group, whose goal is to review all composite requests for approval. This effort requires the development of an understanding of the various investment approaches offered by the Firm. The individual will also assist in the annual GIPS verification performed by the Firm's external audit firm.

Job Responsibilities

* Responsible for composite construction and membership integrity efforts including review of non-discretionary accounts, monitoring account opening and closings, and evaluating the impact of client guideline changes
* Work with Product Management on composite questions and issues and provide guidance on possible solutions within the framework of GIPS
* Participate in the monthly Composite Working Group meetings by writing and presenting materials for discussion, asking thoughtful questions and delivering recommendations
* Establish and maintain procedures on composite oversight processes and communication of changes and seek opportunities to improve the workflow and/or infrastructure

This job is a senior level Basis position in the SAP, IT Systems and Applications Analyst family. Although the responsibilities and goals in relationship to the organization are similar across the family


Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage, monitor, tune, troubleshoot and resolve application issues on all SAP instance pipelines, related applications and operating systems.
  • Install Support Package Stacks, Enhancement Packages, move transports through the system pipelines via TMS, SDM, JSPM and Portal tools.
  • Provide SAP Application, Database and Operating system support as defined by the Technical Applications and Infrastructure Manager and managed to the service level agreements we have in place with the businesses.
  • Plan and manage application, database or operating system upgrades and their related activities to ensure that service levels, objectives and schedules are met.
  • Work with data center operations to design and implement controls for new technologies, systems and their supporting infrastructure to ensure systems are available and recoverable in accordance with our service level agreements.
  • Document processes and procedures and communicate them to the Basis team, and internal and external IT customers.

Contract opportunity SQL Server Analytical Services

3+ months, paying, 65/hr, just outside of Boston, MA

Must be an expert with SSAS!

7+ years… expert level… primarily Analysis services…

(IT is now called SSAS-Sql Server Analysis Service, before it was called Analysis Services)

B.S. Computer Science/Engineering; master’s degree will be a plus.

Financial (fixed income) knowledge and Structure Finance knowledge a plus.

We are not looking for pure SQL server dba. This is more of a Developer/DBA role with EXTENSIVE SSAS experience They need to be an expert in Analysis services. That is the big thing. Without this, the hiring manager will not consider the candidate...

The individual must have deep experience with Microsoft SQL server particularly with 2005 and 2008 enterprise edition. This person must also have a strong knowledge of and experience with Analysis Services along with relational database engine.

Experience with integration services, database analysis, data mapping, logical/physical data modeling, physical database design based on business requirements, skills in extraction, transformation and loading with MS SQL server. In addition, this person must be capable of demonstrating the equivalent of a minimum of 5+ years of MS SQL server design and implementation experience (2000, 2005, 2008).
